Marnie! Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I'm a Perth mumma of two beautiful children and the owner of 'Under The Little Top.' I absolutely love what I do, every set-up is as unique as each person who makes a booking with us. The best part of what I do is being a part of setting-up someone’s special occasion. Life is to be celebrated and being a part of other peoples’ special occasions is an absolute honour & privilege.
Helping others requires you to help yourself first. Working in the corporate world, I found I lost my sense of freedom. Working for myself, being my own boss and celebrating my successes for myself and not for a corporation has been uplifting and in return, I am able to enhance the experience of celebration, rejoicing in the joy of living in the moment. I am so very grateful to have been a part of, and continue to be a part of, so many beautiful memories.
Do you have any big plans for 2019?
2018 was the best kind of crazy! It's been a wonderful adventure. Travelling to new locations, meeting new people & creatives (like the gorgeous Tash) helping others create beautiful memories and spreading the Love. 2019 is all about becoming more creative and enhancing Under the Little Top to elevate life & love through celebrating experiences and milestones.
Under the Little Top played a huge part during our Desert Rose shoot. How did you find the day?
The Desert Rose collection shoot was an amazing day on set! The people, the energy, the clothes & accessories! Love, love, love! The collection looked stunning on Jordy, showing the movement & comfort of House of Skye's bohemian style clothing.
Where do you find your inspiration?
I've always had a passion for the arts and love being creative. Inspiration comes from the world around me, from my favourite things, stores I like, people I meet, often inspiration comes when I'm out & about.
Finally as a mum and a business owner, what advice do you have for mothers considering a creative venture?
For me as a mum and a business owner, working for yourself means you have to be a doer to get the job done, sometimes that means bringing children to set-up & pack-downs during school holidays or weekends. Sometimes it means turning bookings that are quite a distance away from Perth into family road trips with powered camp sites becoming a savour (perfect for iPad charging) and the great outdoors featuring copious amounts of spring flowers providing a flower picking activity (perfect for entertaining little ones). You CAN be great by doing what you're naturally good at, have fun with what you're doing in business, be the real you and spread the love.
